Key Themes:
-
Making more within the
current footprint
-
Bringing the outdoors
in
-
Adapting a house to
modern entertaining
The Project:
A 1950's
ranch had a reasonably current and spacious kitchen
but the house, which bordered Rock Creek Park,
didn't take advantage of the views. An
addition that was at least 20 years old further
separated the house from it's surroundings.
A couple
who enjoyed cooking and entertaining also desired a
gourmet kitchen and gracious but informal entertaining area.
Retaining
the current footprint, we combined the kitchen,
dining and family room into a single great
room with better access to and views from the formal
living room and foyer.
The house had an existing
1-car garage but the 2-car family wanted covered
parking for the 2nd car. We were able to
accommodate their goals while also providing greater
access to the outdoors.
At this time, the house is under construction so we're providing the renderings
the client approved prior to construction.
