Another Open Plan Galley Kitchen

Open Plan Galley Kitchen

This is a great galley kitchen for a small home.  It’s got 2 9 ft counters with a sink on one side and a 36″ cooktop on the other.  A window over the sink opens up the kitchen further.  It uses down-draft ventilation for the cooktop so the view to the living room isn’t blocked with a large vent hood.  The refrigerator, wall ovens and 4 ft square pantry are within easy reach.    The island is 60″ deep.  There’s a 24″ bookshelf on one end and a wine cooler on the other making a recessed area for stools.  There’s also shallow storage  under the recess for seldom used items.

I'm the owner and principal of Braitman Design/Build. We remodel older homes within the urban and close-in suburban areas of Washington, DC. In addition to our full service Design/Build Practice We welcome small design projects and small home improvement projects. And consult with homeowners across the country who want to design and manage the remodeling process themselves. Finally, my work is informed by my experience as an exhibiting sculptor and designer. I truly work at the intersection of art, architecture and design. Please see for yourself the extraordinary result when architecture, design and art are seamless parts of the whole.
