  1. My wife and I have the same shade of brown furniture in our media room, and we wanted to use a gray palette. Could you please tell me what type of paint was used on the walls and the ceiling, it looks like three different shades of gray. Thanks!

  2. Charles – Part of what makes this palette work is that the brown has a lot of gray in it — it’s a heather or greyed brown. The paint is Benjamin Moore- 3 colors. All the walls of the basement proper are Kendall Charcoal HC-166 in a matte finish — the finish greatly affects the perceived tone. The ceiling is a light gray — silver satin OC-26, again in matte. The interior stairway walls are a light cream filtered sunlight 2154-60, again in matte. The final 2 components that are important in the palette are (1) a green-toned faux slate — American Olean Field Tile: Highland Ridge – Evergreen, and (2) the backsplash is a natural slate with silver and cream tones.

Please remember that the light in your home may drastically affect whether this palette will work well for you.
