It’s time once again to look at the value of your home improvements.  I’ve included here national averages as well as averages for the South Atlantic area (which for aggregating purposes includes Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington DC).

The results largely reflect the trends I’m seeing in my own design and remodeling business.  The market is valuing home  improvements that make the most of the existing house – adding space in attics and basements plus making mechanical and safety improvements – upgrading their front entry and replacing major systems like roofs and siding.
